Dom Bagnato celebrates 30 years

Dom Bagnato has been a name known in gents' wardrobes across Australia for 30 years. A 30-year anniversary provides a much-needed moment for Dom to reflect and he certainly has a lot to be proud of. From a young age, he’s lived his dream of being a men’s fashion designer. His supportive family has been there every step of the way; his wife Pia and children Nunzio and Melina Bagnato-Giannuzzi who’ve been inspired to follow in their father’s fashionable footsteps. Not bad for a son of Italian immigrants who started making his suits from a Fitzroy warehouse. At Dom’s 30th anniversary event, it was obvious that the celebration wasn’t just about his business but his personal success too. Given his personal investment and dedication, it’s fair to say he earned every moment.

We celebrated Dom’s 30-year milestone at Alluvial Restaurant in Melbourne’s Intercontinental The Rialto. The theme of the night was ‘A Cocktail Affair’. The pride Dom has in his Italian heritage shone through the Italian inspired menu of Aperol Spritz cocktails, delicious canapés and traditional Tiramisu. The Alluvial was transformed into a late 1960s Rat Pack lounge. A fashion installation showcased the Dom Bagnato brand history from the 1980s to the present day. The exclusive guestlist included Myer CEO, Bernie Brookes who came to celebrate with Dom after sharing the long, successful relationship with the menswear range selling at Myer.

The biggest surprise of the evening was Dom’s rendition of Dean Martin’s ‘Sway with Me’. Dom gave a fun yet sincere performance, dedicated to his wife, Pia. Dressed in a royal blue Carla Zampatti gown, she radiated pure elation for the whole performance. The sharing of family love and loyalty didn’t stop there. Nunzio Bagnato, Dom’s son and successor, made an incredibly heartfelt speech that moved the entire venue to tears.

Although it marked the past 30 years in incredible style, the celebrations also showed that with Nunzio by his side, Dom Bagnato is going to be a big name in Australian men’s fashion for many decades more to come. ☆
